Demo explorers. In the app, each tile turns solid only after three answers without help on two different days.

Five worlds, from 3 to 13

Each age group has its own world in the Living Atlas. Children help Nib, a friendly drop of magic ink, bring it back to color one skill at a time.

Learned means learned

A lucky streak doesn't count. NibQuest only marks something learned when your child shows it on their own, more than once, and still knows it later.

  1. Not yet

New letters, numbers and skills join a few at a time, in order.

  2. Three answers without help

Hinted answers teach, but only unaided answers count, and at most two a day, so it takes at least two different days.

  3. Learned

Days later, a memory check confirms it's still there. Miss one, and it reopens.

  4. Remembered

After two memory checks, and an Atlas review at the end of each world.

Every skill is a story

Children meet a character with a problem, then solve it with swipes, sorts, taps and typed answers. When they get stuck, hints go from a gentle nudge to a strategy to a worked example.

  • Instructions are read aloud, so pre-readers can play on their own
  • About 15 to 30 minutes a day, with natural stopping points
  • No streaks, no timers, no notifications
  • "Help Jumble" moments: kids find and fix a friend's mix-ups

You see the evidence

Behind a grown-ups-only check, the learning plan shows what your child has mastered, what's next, and every letter, word and number still to learn.

  • What they can do on their own, with the evidence for each skill
  • Mix-ups to watch, and an activity to try at home
  • A learning-record spreadsheet for homeschool or school
  • A profile for every child in the family

How NibQuest teaches

Mapped to the standards, and counted

We checked every skill against the official Common Core standards for Kindergarten to Grade 7, and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes for preschool. Here is where coverage stands today.

  • 200 of 201Common Core math standards, Kindergarten to Grade 7. The last one, drawing triangles with a ruler and protractor, is a hands-on activity for home.
  • All 152Common Core reading standards for literature and informational text, Kindergarten to Grade 7, with a graded library of stories, poems, plays and fact texts.
  • All 46Common Core language standards: grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • All 70Common Core writing standards. 49 are practiced in the app, from planning and organizing to revising and choosing evidence. 21, such as writing and sharing a whole piece, are "Do together" activities with a grown-up.
  • All 48Common Core speaking and listening standards. 16 in the app, 32 as "Do together" activities, like retelling a story or giving a short talk.
  • All 16Common Core foundational reading standards. 10 in the app, and 6 for reading aloud with expression, practiced together.
  • 17 of 18Head Start preschool goals for math and literacy, one of them with a grown-up (writing their name). The last one is covered in part.

Writing, speaking and reading aloud happen best off screen. "Do together" activities sit in the grown-up Progress tab: a few short steps to try with your child, ticked off once you've done them on two different days.
